NATIONWIDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
Who We Are: At Nationwide Children’s, we are more than a hospital. We are America’s largest pediatric health care and research center, providing care at more than 1.4 million patient visits each year. Families travel from all 50 states and more than 50 countries for our life-saving treatments – many unavailable anywhere else in the world. It’s the pediatric expertise all children need to give them the someday they deserve. Nationwide Children’s is consistently recognized by US News and World Reports’ on their Honor Roll of America’s Top 10 Children’s Hospitals.
What We Do: In 1892, a dedicated group of local women held a sale to raise money for the care of sick, impoverished children. That effort led to the opening of Children’s Hospital in 1894. For more than a century, we have existed to care for every child, for every reason. Today, in 2018, pediatric research is desperately underfunded. The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation raises critical funds necessary to continue the mission of helping children everywhere. Every gift, of any size, enables us to conduct pioneering research and deliver life-saving care to countless children and families who turn to us for help.
Why We're Important: At Nationwide Children’s, we believe in caring for the whole child; that mental health is as important as physical health. We’re taking on the biggest, boldest challenges in pediatrics, revolutionizing the future of children’s health by raising funds for life-saving pediatric research. Our doctors are scientists, taking problems at the bedside into the lab for answers. We’re making incredible progress through personalized treatments for the most complex diseases and by improving care for children struggling with mental illness – critical, considering 1 in 5 youth have had a mental health disorder with severe impairment by the time they are 18. We believe children should just get to be children.
How We Impact the Community: With deep roots in Columbus, Nationwide Children’s is committed to the overall health and wellness of children everywhere. Most recently, we launched On Our Sleeves – an empowering movement for children’s mental health. It’s time to have an important local and national conversation about our children’s mental health – an often overlooked and vastly underfunded component of pediatric health. This effort emphasizes the need to end misconceptions about behavioral health, provides critical education and resources for children and families, and raises funds to advance research discoveries that will improve how we care for children with mental illness. We invite you to learn more at OnOurSleeves.org.
How You Can Help: When you give to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, you help kids everywhere. Each and every child deserves the chance for a brighter future. Your gift will help make that a reality. Whether you are making a monetary donation, advocating for families and life-saving research, shopping in our e-store, attending an event or giving your time, your gift helps make our mission possible: to care for every child, for every reason, regardless of the family’s ability to pay. Please give today at NationwideChildrens.org/Giving.
